Listen to poem:
The Barmy Army by Robert J (Bob) Moore (Duguello) ©2020 (written for my chess team-The Barmy Army) The Barmy Army proud and strong began its life as a cricket song on the English Ashes Tour out to Australia, back in 1994 the English team was not real good the Australian crowd never understood how the fans could travel all that way and stand in the blazing sun all day the media thought that they were barmy gave them that name “The Barmy Army” and it stuck, but at the end of the day 50 English fans made their way To a t-shirt shop in Adelaide and all had brand new t-shirts made “Atherton’s Barmy Army” across the chest Union Jack on the back, said the rest. 200 shirts were sold that day and England won at the end of play the Barmy Army had been born and would follow England from that day on. Now another Barmy Army, has taken to the field with Knights and Kings, and Castles to fight and never yield the captain was Domani, those many years ago after 12 years he moved on, but the Army did not slow Jacob, the new leader, we knew he’d would carry on Jzn17 would lead us, and we would be number one many times in future, we would meet that goal no longer just a GB team. we’ve spread from Pole to Pole now we are here, at the top, and at the top we’ll stay with members who will do their best, and fight hard day by day and leaders who will show us, the way we need to go to do our best, to be the best, and make The Barmy Army grow
