The Ballad of George Floyd
Oh Lord, they laid George Floyd down
They put a knee to his neck
and pinned him to the ground
for nine minutes they held him on the deck.
Bystanders saw and got involved
They said, what the fk, what the heck
He's not resisting, it's been resolved
Get that knee off his neck.
He is not moving
What are you cops doing
He said "I Can't breathe"
"Mama, I can't breathe"
Then his body lay still
And a cold wind blew in a chill.
His blood was shed
and then he was dead.
But his words ring in our heads
For all those before who lay dead.
"I can't breathe"
"Mama, I can't breathe"
"I can't breathe"
"Mama, I can't breathe"
They came to get him from the ground
rolled him over like a rag doll
The world saw what had transpired
It was a murder most foul.
