The answer
My eyes grow heavy with the salty water that flows
But for whom do I cry?
As the water flows from my eyes
Along the landscape of my skin
Into the earth to find the river
So the river may run to the sea
So the sun can evaporate
To create a cloud
To rain on me
To hide my tears
To welcome my tears
Back to the one-ness
But for whom do I cry?
If I allotted one tear for each body unalived
In Mali, In Pakistan,
In the Ukraine, In the Congo,
In the US, In Palestine,
In Israel,
I would become a tear and a body
Please do not mistake silence for inaction
Please do not mistake the absence of my screams
Among the cacophony of bombs, gun fire and protest songs
As rudeness
As I sob
I breathe in love
I breathe out peace
I breathe in love
I breathe out peace
My eyes grow heavy
And I know killing you does not solve the problem
And I know killing me does not solve the problem
And I know peace is the answer.
Every tear contains the answer.
