My girl and I we headed down to Nashville. With a box of songs and all my childhood dreams. We knocked on a lot of doors that didn't answer. They didn't want my songs or so it seems. So I took a job at the local tourist center. Just to earn enough to feed my girl and me. Last night she got tired of disappointment, She left me all alone in Tennessee. At work they asked if I would write a slogan, to make people want to come to Tennessee? I wrote it in the hope that you might hear it. Maybe you'd come running back to me. Chorus: Tennessee you in Nashville Tennessee you one more time? Tennessee you in Nashville? In Nashville Tennessee you once again? Now everywhere I go I see my slogan. On Tee shirts at the local five and dime. I've even seen it written on a billboard, And I wish that you'd come back here one more time. Well the people came from far and wide to Nashville. To the beautiful state of Tennessee. I search faces in the crowd to find you darling, And I pray someday that you'll come back to me. Chorus: Tennessee you in Nashville" Tennessee you one more time? Tennessee you in Nashville? In Nashville Tennessee you once again? Well I always knew I'd be a star in Nashville, and you can say I knew him way back when, he took a job at the local tourist center, And those words will keep coming back again. Chorus: Tennessee you in Nashville Tennessee you one more time? Tennessee you in Nashville? In Nashville Tennessee you once again? A chorus sings ..... Tennessee you in Nashville......
