Surviving Depression

Within despair, through the dark, it stings deep inside No one appreciates the anguish I endure, resulting in me baring the burden alone With no respite, no one wants to see the blackness that sullies my soul Only I can pull myself through each hurricane of torrential suffering My only saving grace is blind optimism The belief it will get better and I will be here tomorrow

Your raw feelings are like gold and you show them here. Know that what you are is a beacon of light to those who feel this but don't or can't write about it. You are not alone. You should enter one of the contests that has a pick your title with the subject being depression. I think your poetry paints peace by exposing despair. And fyi I am bipolar. I have felt many feelings alone and in varying intensity. But my music and poetry are saving grace. May you be encouraged. Hugs love and light 2 you

I felt this in my soul as I read this poem. It was as if I was reading how I feel in my own heart. Thank you for this, Cindy.

Cindy, I often rely on "blind optimism". It is my go-to place. "baring the burden alone" this speaks to the heart of depression. This poem resonates with me.

Caren, thank you so much for your feedback, you have no idea how much I appreciate it! I'm so glad it resonated with you. And I'm sorry that you deal with this also. I think only those who have can really understand what the rest of us go through. Thanks again for your comment!
