Sunlight rises like a phoenix
from the charcoal ashes of night.
And sets the eastern skies afire,
lit by Dawn's splendiferous light.
Orange, yellow, and tangerine
ink scattered clouds of misty grey.
And a mix of pastel colors
confirms that Sol is on his way.
Soft shades of violet and blue
swiftly sully ebony skies.
And as night dissolves into day
a gold sun continues to rise.
Shadows quiver, breaking from black,
as sunrise chases night away.
And twinkling stars quickly vanish,
washed away by the light of day.
