Stardust Revisited

"And now the purple dusk of twilight time Steals across the meadows of my heart" Almost a hundred years ago When love songs were tender and slow People were still named Hoagy And tough guys were called Bogie The term Stardust came to mind Of a student while he dined "You wander down the lane and far away Leaving me a song that will not die" At first he heard just the tune With help the lyrics came soon Life was slower back then And it took time to "catch wind" So Stardust rose to the top Slowly with a skip and a hop "You are in my arms The nightingale tells his fairy tale" Nat King Cole ensured number one Sinatra came when Nat was done Common folk sang it by day It brought a smile come what may And a classic came to be No doubt it was for you and me "My stardust melody The memory of love's refrain" No matter how long ago The words are true we all know A lost love no matter the reason Will live forever in season "Though I dream in vain In my heart it will remain" 7-16-20 Contest: Same Old Song Sponsor: Beth Evans
