Stalingrad III

Your doggedness left arrogance denied
when dominance put ego on display.
Oh Stalingrad, your heart was fortified
as confidence kept Satan’s corps at bay.
Not one step back was touted by command
as blackened candles flickered by the score.
Though death’s escape was readily at hand
their hopes were merely casualties of war.
Your iron will, against your river’s tide,
from north and south, had breach its icy flow.
You closed your grip and trapped the beast inside
to slowly face the wrath of winter snow.
His army waned in arrogant conceit
as despotism languished in defeat.

As despotism languished in defeat
his mighty corps would perish in the mist.
All compromise and reticent retreat
or any prayers for grace had been dismissed.
The Devil’s pride had met you at the gate
but irony refused to let them in,
and all the blood that spilled in conjured hate
was payment for the devil’s deadly sin.
But death does not deter a wicked soul
that seeks oppressive greed at any cost,
for such a gain is sought at any toll
and bears the price when multitudes are lost.
As war bequeaths through consecrated birth,
this spawn from Hell gestated in the dearth.

This spawn from Hell gestated in the dearth
of vengeance reared from war unreconciled.
A scoffed defeat would amplify the girth
of arrogance that history reviled.
‘Tis sweet revenge to satiate the ire
as vindication devastates your foe.
‘Tis ecstasy to set the world afire
and bask within reprisal’s afterglow.
But vengeance seeks to haunt the broken minds
of broken men, thus harboring forlorn.
‘Tis but a curse pursuing ties that bind,
converting mere depression into scorn.
Those heinous souls that walk upon this earth,
perplexity of man has given birth.

Perplexity of man has given birth
to recompence that challenges a star.
And, domination any place on earth
no longer is achieved through vintage war.
And all who hold its prominence at hand
may set alight the corners of the world.
And, nothing on its surface will withstand
the power that the mind of man unfurled.
But for a day, its might was held by one
and soon the world awakened to its fate,
for fires from Hell would scorch the Rising Sun
as Armageddon breached its fiery gate.
The mind of man has made the earth a pyre
as gods go forth to set the world a fire.

As gods go forth to set the world a fire
the consequence shall greet them at the door,
for dominance is what they so desire.
The satisfaction comes through means of war.
Oh Stalingrad, prepare to face the test,
let fortitude confront the raging beast.
Let confidence defeat the evil quest
as Axis power struggles in the east.
‘Tis hate that stalls this beast of fatal pride
intent to steal all freedoms through conceit.
Your doggedness left arrogance denied
as despotism languished in defeat.
This spawn from Hell, gestated in the dearth,
perplexity of man has given birth.
