Something To Write About
There you are again
Your image
Reminiscent of unclear memories
Evoking a soft fluttering in my heart
And I don’t know why
I’ll never know why
I raise my head from daydream
I see your silhouette
Dancing beside the diminishing sunlight
Resplendent in form
It reads surety and familiarity
But still an enigma
Uncharted territory
That I have yet
To tread upon
What to do with the unexpected
I swore I’d never see you again
But you appeared
A shock to the system
And I’m involuntarily shaking
And I wish I knew what to do
Timing is everything
And I’m counting the seconds
Contemplating what they’ll bring
And it’s your shadow
Reflecting off tinted glass
And I’m caught off guard
As your smile emerges
From the glare of the dying sun
I have to catch my breath
As your figure breaks through
The smoky haze of my conscience
It’s like seeing a ghost
the object of my affection
Jumping out of a dream
And entering my surreal existence
And I don’t make sense
But neither do you
So where do we go from here?
Or do we?
Why is it you torment me?
Among so many people
And you pick me from the crowd
Your arms are comfort incarnate
As they engulf me
In an overpowering embrace
And you hold me forever
But it’s not long enough
And I don’t know what
You want with me
You are a mystery
As splendid as the pyramids
As vast as space
As timeless as Love
And flowing like the ocean
I hope some day
Those waves will come crashing down
And sweep me away
To be carried off with the tide
But for now
You’re my something to write about
