Solid
‘Are you solid?’
Is like asking ‘are you okay?’
With intention
That you’re 100%
And there’s nothing wrong.
You’re put together,
You’re good, fine, perfect.
You’re fine fine fine.
Nothing is wrong,
The world is sunshine and rainbows.
When you ask
‘Are you solid?’
And she tells you no,
Your response shouldn’t be
‘Oh but you are’
Like you know what’s going on
Because you’re going through hell
So everyone else just has to be fine
So you can fall apart without acknowledging consequence.
It’s unfair to assume
Someone else isn’t going through
Their own sort of hell
Incomparable to yours.
You might think she’s solid
But it’s all a guise.
It’s something she’s practiced
Over the course of the years.
She’s been where you are
But she’s changed her processing.
Just because she deals differently
Doesn’t mean she’s not still there.
She’s come a long way
But she’s not ‘solid’.
She’s getting through life,
Hanging by a thread.
Don’t diminish her feelings
Because you’re going through your own.
