Snow Place Like Home
Snowflakes slap at my window pane,
They're soft yet strong just the same.
Ice and winds attempt to get in,
The snowflakes blow harder-determined to win.
I rather enjoy this beautiful dance,
The frozen delight puts me in a trance.
The fire inside it keeps me warm,
The storm from outside can do me no harm.
But suddenly I desire to feel the cold,
To go outside and play in the snow.
To be a child from long ago,
Then I realize I'm much too old.
So I sit by my window and watch it blow,
And feel the warmth of the fires glow.
Suddenly the winds begin to slow,
The night puts to sleep the beautiful snow.
