Slot Machine Romance
Slot Machine Romance
One time a simple flower would have sold me
The sanctuary of roses
Filling my heart
And the poems of a lover
Would whisper my expectation
And rescue my longings in his strong and protecting arms
Once I would have been a damsel
Courted in the beauty of angels
I would have been his sweetest prize
The only woman of his eyes
I would have been the “all” for which he strived
But now I am fettered by his entertainment
His expensive suit
And priceless mode of transport
This luxury
I sold for the price of love
And money
For my body
And money
For my heart
And money
I sold for the price of love
And all my expectation came to nothing
As all my disappointments became so demanding
For no more than my own security
My romance was with this slot machine
And for the money
I sold the price of my love
For the money
I sold my heart
For the money
I stole his life
And sold the price of love
