Shock and Awe
How are we going to win this fight
Let's try shock and awe
Let's rain on them missiles and bombs
That's how we'll win this war
A soldier walks in the rubble
All that's left of this town
He feels the tears well up in his eyes
As he stands and look around
He sees bodies lying there
Of people once so proud
Of this town where once they lived
They seem to shout out loud
Why did you do this to us?
What did we do to you?
Why did you maim and kill
Us and our children too?
He hears a whimper sees a tiny hand
Reach out through the rubble in vain
In that hand is a raggedy doll
It fills his soul with pain
He knows that a child is lying there
He tears at the brick and the stone
But he knows that the child is dying there
And that she will die lost and alone
The soldier drops his weapon
He sadly walks away
He vows to never to fight again
He shouts we cant win this way
Yes we can win a battle
Yes we can win a war
But its not worth the cost of the victory
If we use shock and awe
