She Is a Keeper
I love you! She said, throwing her arms around me.
I was stunned. I had no idea who she was.
Or how she got inside my parent’s home.
My brother explained. “This is my new girlfriend.”
I adored her right away.
She loved the house, she loved the parents.
She loved their fireplace, she loved their bar room.
She was fun, happy, enthusiastic and wonderful!
Where did you find this one? I asked him.
She is a keeper! If you don’t snap her up, I’ll marry her myself.
She never stopped loving things. That was fifty years ago,
And she still loves me, my brother, my parents, their new home…..
She and my brother are divorced now. He has a new wife,
But she still loves him. She loves everything. She loves and loves and loves and loves.
She is at my front door now. I am hiding behind the couch, because she might peek in the window.
I cannot take any more loving.
