Shadows Echo
Shadows Echo
A lonely sound it makes,
the muffled echoes of a shadow
lingering in moonlight,
weeping in silence,
for things that might have been.
Yet the echoes grow louder as the shadows deepen
and caress the empty places where your heart
used to live in my soul,
for the bitter taste of a last kiss
still lingers on broken promises
My love withers and dies in the shadow of your love
as a blossom, forgotten and alone, fades in fall
shivering from the touch of frost
in eyes that once caressed
with the warmth of the sun
and as the shadows or'take the night
the echo reverberates through
the shadowy recesses of my mind
almost deafening in the silence
as once again, my eyes release the
pain, that drips into the never ending pool of sorrow
that forever echoes the sadness of the waiting shadows.
