September Vibes
A subtle thing
No horns or drums
It’s hot as hell
When September comes
There’s nothing to see
No colorful foliage
But the kids down the street
Are heading for college
It’s the month of my birth
And I’ll tell you right now
I’ll be counting the days
And fan my fiery brow
There’s excitement in the air
Why don’t they feel it?
Am I all alone?
I can’t bear to conceal it
So I’ll wear a new smile
And I’ll hum a gay tune
If all else fails
I might sleep until noon
Just don’t steal my thunder
Don’t tell me I’m daft
For loving September
Now that August has past
