Seductive Saltiness Beckons Me
leaving the hot sands
of comfort wading into
the salty unknown
diving headlong into
its coldness that shocks
my body I rise to breathe
while the waters burn
my eyes its profound
stength nudges me as,
a mother does her children
huge churning waves crash
closer, growing in size until it
seems a beast, slicing
into the bubbly turquoise colors
One sweep of my arms propels me,
Into this turbulent force tossing
me about in the
churning fury as my lungs
burn for air, disoriented
I finally break the surface,
sweet air cooling the
fire in my lungs glancing
towards the sands yet the
seductive ocean beckons
to me free from the
comfort craving the unknown
heartbeat races from
excitement as those
waves win, like a mermaid,
I dive into the seductive saltiness
swimming towards the sunset
Leaving the comforting
sands behind
