Secret Thoughts
Secret Thoughts
Through shimmering heat and memory clouded eyes,
You search the distant hills and rocky peaks
For any sign, a face or distant cries
To lift your mind, disturbed, as someone speaks
Their secret thoughts of moments, always missed,
By those who seek their mirror imaged self.
So should you find, and keep this sacred tryst,
This Holy Grail, best yet approach with stealth
Lest, with each footfall, timid creatures may
Just turn and run, and in their running fall.
Then, in shattered shadows make their way
To darkest corners, heedless of that call,
They’ll show themselves in night-times velvet cloak
Or talk, in silent whispers, gently spoke.
