Sacrifice
Something is wrong
The eerie silence sends shivers up my spine
I smell danger
But I am fearless
Out of the corner of my eye I see them
We need to act fast
I tell you to run
And don’t stop
I run for my life
I realize you’re no longer with me
I turn back
Determined to fight for you
I run as silently as I can
Adrenalin pumping through my veins
I see you lying there unconscious and bleeding
My eyes burn with anger
I take my chance
I need to save you
I try to fight them off around you
I pick you up and run
The weight of your body in my arms is exhausting
My body is weak but I don’t stop running
Gun shots are fired in the background
I drop to my knees wounded
I must get you to safety
I drag you and hide you as best I can
I try to run away, more shots are fired
I collapse with agonizing pain, everything is a blur
In my final moments I hear sirens, running footsteps
Now I know you are safe
I drift into a deep sleep
Never to wake up again
