Restless Head
outside, in arrows of shadow,
darkness rides out from skyscrapers
that loom across the grid of streets,
puncturing this day that hangs unsure
in this distending late afternoon light;
she glances around the room,
floor polished by their bare feet,
pillows, bed sheets in knowing disarray,
again, on him her restless head rests
in this distending late afternoon light.
