Remembrance
Remembrance
My hands shake as I draw close,
Gripped by what I fear most.
From a distance, I make out the spot,
Bodies clammy, yet I feel hot.
Another Sunday, another week,
Closure is what I seek.
I reach the spot that bears your name,
Craved into the rocks grain.
“Husband, Father, Beloved Son,
Friend, loved by everyone”.
That’s what I remember, that’s what I see,
As I remember the man in front of me.
Strong, yet tender, soft, yet bold,
What I wouldn’t give for your arms to hold.
Though death came between us, something will never die,
A love that forever burns as the years pass us by
