Redemption

Redemption I hear it, the steady dripping outside my window. Unleashed from the Heavens like the sins of sinners craving peace. Lost, and in agony, both seeking release. Release from pain, guilt, loss, and grief, Oceans of memories offer no relief. The mind stealing fragments, hiding them away, Til we cannot remember, the trauma, and pain. Oh, to be innocent again like a newborn child, Before we were damaged, our minds defiled. Before we saw things, we should never have seen, The world has turned us hard and mean. Searching for peace in a world at war, We do what we want, no one cares anymore. Guilt, and rage, betrayal, and pain, Emotions released, in the steady rain. We cannot undo, what is already done, We cannot cry victory, when no one has won. We cannot control, what we have no control of, The rain will still fall, like tears from above. Let go of the past, it can never be again, We can no long dwell, on what might have been. Sometimes the mind bears til it breaks, Forced to hold more, than we are able to take. But the breaking, they say, allows the mind to heal, We have to let go, we have to feel. As we fall on our knees, in the rain and mud, Revelation comes; it always does. We learn there are two halves to each whole, Good, and evil, friend, and foe. The dark in all hides beneath the skin, Where no one can see, hidden within. Which side will lose, which side will win, It’s the side you feed, are you sinner, or friend? I still hear it, the dripping of rain in my ear, I open the door, it’s only me here. I step outside, I can hardly see, My head in my hands, I fall to my knees, As the water drowns me, in its cold embrace, Rivers of rain, run down my face. I feel the release, as I am redeemed, If just for tonight, I hear myself scream. It is me, that I fight, most of all, The darkness, the light, which one will call. Whatever the answer, what will be will be, We are all only human, I will still be me. As I stumble inside and into my bed, I think I still hear it…or is it only in my head…
