Reason V Love, 2 of 2
The quest to conquer primal urges fails,
Our bodies constitute divines and bases;
The splitting whereof inner peace travails,
Nirvana glows when Reason, Love embraces.
But high or low can Reason’s balance tip,
For starved or glutted Love does dim the weight;
Each sway portends a waving sinking ship,
And wrecks on ocean floors are past cure’s date.
To calm the swelling seas of Psyche’s plane
Means I must navigate the flames of lust,
And ace the testing fire like Sita sane,
Or burn like Dido back to ash and dust.
The outcome’s vague when beating passions bathe,
Yet hope have I to walk the blaze unscathed.
