Psalm From the Pools of Faith
Psalm from the Pools of Faith
We are kneeling atop the bottomless
Black pools, our knees riding the tops of spring-green lily pads, our heads bowed, singing out
Above the mirroring waters of our
Faith; our voices rise in Alleluias
Until the very earth rattles, lifting our rejoicing
Up through lead-gray clouds off to meet the stars,
On to far galaxies, our sound amplifying
As it moves and gathering un-dreamed-of
Harmonies to carry the heaven-heard
Hunger of our joined souls —
Given voice in the splendors
Of the Kingdom’s light and loving psalms,
Authored in all by the Word made flesh.
Our roots extend into the deepest
Black of all-colors, holding fully strong
Our stems above the pools, and our
Blossoms stand heavy with their segmented
Blooms, purely white as the crescent moon,
Inclined to greet our display. We are
The vision of our sound, felt testimonies
Of the Living God and his grasp
Of our souls’ desire to rise
In the embrace of faith’s calling, from the black pools
Of the darkest nights still shining here
Right at our doors, so near our feet,
With an outreaching of our hands, we
Will grow into the psalms. Alleluia!
