Promises, Promises

You promised on our wedding day To take me for your wife, That from that day forward You'd stay beside me all my life. Yet when better days were over And money got a little tight, You started being horrible Causing us to fight. You promised you would care for me In sickness and in health, And yet as soon as I got ill You left me by myself. You promised to love and cherish me Till death do us part, Yet you never meant a word You've broken my heart. Promises, promises, You're dishonourable through and through, A renege, a traitor And yet I still love you.

They say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Hope you will push through the rough patches of life and be rewarded with happier days

Thankfully my husband and I are very happy in our marriage. Unfortunately many friends and family experience marriage break ups and troubles.

Well written words about how fickle some people are, even when in love and married. Reality has the good and the bad, sad that the bad in life is more numerous because mankind walks in treacherous, abject darkness with only a small dim-lit candle to guide.

So sad when those promises really meant nothing. Oh how wonderful a trustworthy soul. And yet, there is always hope. You write beautiful with your heart of emotion, Elizabeth!

unfortunately I have seen this situation many a time, and I dare not say I profess to be an expert on these matters, a lot of people would say to get away from a relationship like this, but easier said then done. I do feel for any person in this situation. A well written and sad piece Elizabeth...Maria

How true this is Elizabeth. It takes such a long time for a heart to heal. Some women and men just can't let go of someone who is not good for them. Well written and moving my friend! : )
