I’m not the girl
You fall hopelessly,
Madly, irrevocably
In love with.
I’m the girl
Who holds her place.
You won’t fall
In love with me
At first sight.
You won’t get
That meet cute,
The one you’ll have
With her.
I’m the girl
You have to be
Friends with.
I’m the one
You think you love;
The one you
Want to be true
Because I’m too good
For you to lose.
At least that’s what you think
Until you meet her.
I won’t steal your attention
The first time you see me.
You won’t have that
‘Oh wow’ moment,
The one I wish you would.
You won’t meet me
And go to your friend,
Telling them all about
The pretty girl
You have a crush on.
I’m the one you think
You’re putting all the effort in for
Until you meet her
And everything becomes effortless.
I’m the girl
You’ll feel bad for
When you leave,
Though not for long
Because you’ll
Forget all about me.
I’m the placeholder
For the girl
You’ll call
‘The one’.
