Perched On the Edge of a Precipice
Our wall clock chimes midnight
You’re still frolicking away from home
I cry rivers of tears in the wee hours of the night
As dreams we once shared away they roam
Far, far, far away to a distant abyss
Catalyzed and cannibalized by a heart of rock
That feels nothing of the feelings I miss
Cos you’ve found a new chick on the block
To steer our vision away
From the home where you once sought and brought peace
As you and I from altercations away we did stray and stay
Praying to God as our succor and comfort source
Now, distant from those heady days
We cruise and hurtle at high celerity to the edge of the precipice
Where ought to find ways
To escape despite the chink and crease
Your escapades have lumped on us
To tear our hopes, our dreams
With neither cuss nor fuss for the onus
You’ve dumped into reckless despair streams
I beg you to reconsider
The stance you’ve taken
Because of a few drops of cider
That have us mistaken and broken
Unless, God forbid
In the worst of circumstances
You should persist in the sordid and putrid
Path to cling to noxious acquaintances
With deleterious consequences
To the future you and I share
Despite chasm and distance sequences
You’ve created without for us any spare care.
