In one of her recent poems, "The lightest touch," our international poet friend, Brandy Nicole, made us aware of the “Octelle."  This is my first attempt at this form of poetry.  Thank you, Brandy!

Form ~ Octelle

The syllable count structure for this verse is 8,8,7,7,7,7,8,8
The first two lines and the last two lines are identical.
The rhyme scheme is aa/bb/cc/aa

Poetry Soup syllable counter used.


Sweet, succulent Elberta Peach It's tell-tale blush within my reach. It's that time of year again A peach to die for and then I have to have another, The ultimate peach, brother! Sweet, succulent Elberta peach It's tell-tale blush within my reach.

Very enjoyable. You took me to the peach state, Georgia, where many peaches as rinsed by my grandparent's drenched my chin and cheeks with delicious and sticky peach juice. Love the fruits of summer and peaches are a definite winner. My taste sense is quite keen now that I've read this, and not a peach in the house. Oh, my. All the best ... CayCay

Lol... CayCay, thank you for your delightful comment, and for sharing your peach-eating memory of your grandparent’s :) My mother was from Georgia, so I remember visiting during the summer and my momo would fix us up some good juicy peaches! Nothin’ like a good, fresh Georgia peach!
