Overcome
My mind is full of stolen dreams
And nothing is quite what it seems
When everything bursts at the seams
And we become separate teams
But life is here in your hands
Billions of lives like grains of sand
It's so beautiful to be a small part of a bigger scene
And if you know what I mean
Maybe it's time to live to give love
When our destinies join and fit like a glove
I met you when I was in a dark place
But now I'm blessed when I see your face
And that is the high that I chase
But it's hard to keep pace
When everything is moving so fast
And tragedy happens in a gun blast
And my American dream is to be free
Of everything that makes me lost at sea
But when people have their eyes closed they don't see
That their hatred makes me flee
Because together we can be truly great
And I truly believe that is our fate
With unity we can sail a sea of stars
From driving cars to flying ships to Mars
And I've been through many moments that were hard
That tainted my soul and left me scarred
But I'll never give up on the beauty of a soul
Because to be uplifting is to score the greatest goal
Your fate is my fate and my fate is your fate
So understand it's not too late
For just to join hands and reject hate
And watch it dissipate on the sands it carries weight
And if life taught me anything
It's that you can be anything
When misery is history
But tomorrow is a mystery
Well, I'll hold my head high and smile
As I lose myself in rhyme for awhile
It's so nice to mingle with mice
When life is a toss of the dice
Poetry is all I want in this life
When reality is full of strife
And I no longer have stolen dreams
And everything is what it seems
Just be strong and hold on tight
Because after the stroke of midnight
Eventually the sun will rise
Leading to hatred's demise
Just be strong and belong
You're not singing the wrong song
And when hatred is broken
Love will be awoken
We'll break the shackles
And remove that which hackles
My friends this is your day
You just have to see to find your way
