I'd walk away if only I could I envy those that can The parts of me that try lose too much Those first few steps are easy Stride with confidence Summoned stability held loosely in my right hand But to look back See myself as the watcher on The eyes of judgement are mine and that of the unknown stranger Suddenly the steps are heavy It becomes clear the shadow can't break free of the object I am the object and I don't know the direction of the sun So much effort goes into that decision to take a step The thoughts spin as if that is the hard part Then the path becomes abstract A realisation that no shadows walk alone But the judgement stays and becomes the haunting And I lay down awkwardly, claiming to rest My feet always out of the frame My fingers with a loose grip Preventing the slide There's a world out there, over the wall I see it, grey and overcast No place for a shadow

Enthralling poem DD, creates quite a spell from the first line. Your exploration of the inner world becomes a journey shared, seen through your eyes and feelings. Powerful.

Thank you Paul, it surprises me every time when a painting throws a poem on the page just from looking at it. I do frequently repeat a painting and get different stories or angles which intrigues also. Thank you for your ongoing support - very much treasured x

Shadows surely tempt words, poems, prose... shadows cling to the heart and soul, shadows are amazing as is your poem - a victory in the making, a hope worth thinking, a feeling portraying your amazing way with words. God bless you friend, Love, Gina

Shadow as in shadow of the self? You won't dissapear I promise you.You have a voice that will and must be heard.I understand the trepidation felt it myself and could not understand why.Was it a trauma bond?,I asked myself.I heard it explained well by Sam Vaknin. He said you are grieving a perceived loss of you as they basically infested the real estate of your mind to the point you can't quite put your finger on the pulse of YOU.Keep writing, keep researching fight for your right to party!

Thanks Vickey, should there be deeper meaning to this poem then it explores the individual and the wider picture but misses how should shadows and objects be parted what upset that would cause as the world relies on constants X the world/the world around an individual with its own invested innocent onlookers

It’s certainly no place for a shadow when grey and overcast Dilly, you describe this abstract picture so well, hopefully that shadow stops projecting from your line of sight pretty soon, I wonder if the shadowless cane has any significance, I do enjoy these dark ones, cheers David

I was thinking about the cane too - but didn't have a line for it - perhaps the sense of it aiding stability but it in fact has no substance. Thanks for your kind words :)
