In the ancient world… Temples were places that kept people’s treasures, Not just places to do a god’s pleasures. They were secure, For the rich or the poor. Hard to rob, Safe from all but a mob. In the ancient world… So many animals were as sacrifices, killed, And the carcasses, afterwards, were delightfully grilled. Bar-B-Q it was for worshipper and priest, A good time for all and a satisfying feast. (But not so great for the poor dead beast.) In the ancient world… In the Hebrew Scriptures there is no hell. And there was no heaven as well. Everyone went to sheol, the place of the dead. Whether righteous or not, there was nothing to dread. But that wouldn’t work for the Christian book. An afterlife reward made a better life hook. In the modern world… Planned Parenthood says they serve many a function. But pro-life people say this is just unction. Margaret Sanger was a person, pro-life people adhere, Who wanted to see minorites disappear. But what of Martin Luther and his great reform? He wanted to kill Jews who would not conform. Burning their synagogues, that was just fine. They would not accept Luther nor follow his line. (Hypocrites should have their own level in hell. Their self righteousness wreaks of a disgusting smell.)
