New Year in Retrospect and Prospect

Written 30 December 2023 New Year in Retrospect and Prospects Let the New Year`s first festive day Serve as mirror in retrospect Of the miles travelled on the way And further ahead to prospect; Let`s scan the good deeds done to men Love and care we have dished to friends Progress we have achieved in life Despite storms in our daily strife; Let us find out the lessons learnt Since days of the last year have burnt To make of failures successes And nourish our mind`s recesses; At start of the New Year`s season Let us offer divine pardon To foes who may greet us with hate And friends who have left us through fate; Let`s consider whether new goals We need to frame, ourselves unfold, Whether we need change our mission To reach a new destination; Let`s ponder on the strategy We need to implement in time With the wings of sincerity For our vision apace to chime; Let us chase away dull despair Pursue our goal with gleams of hope As our own life we can repair With policies we can adopt; Even if life is full of strains Let our efforts not be in vain But directed to noble goals That make of us a divine whole; Let us sow the seeds that in time We will reap the joy of goodness And mark our life with sublime hymns Of peace, joy and true happiness. First and foremost, let`s be ourselves, Let`s scan depth of the inner self Whether in a crowded city Or within a monastery; Let`s cherish the divinity And relish spirituality Whether in the calm sea of life Or sinking in a stormy strife; Let my friendly wishes extend To one and all on New Year`s day And year round the Heaven portend Gleams of light to brighten their day.
