My Prayer For Nonny
It seems as if you are slipping further-
Further from life day by day
Your skin ages faster by the second,
Morphing to a pale shade of canary.
I cannot imagine you leaving me,
Though the truth becomes crystallized
Potentially fermenting into fact-
Any second now.
When all others cast me aside-
You sheltered and soothed me
I wretch in anguish that I cannot-
Trade my life in for yours.
This disease gnaws on your insides
It rips apart all health and well being,
Leaving you in a shambled state
How can I reclaim your vigor?
7,8,9,
Pass me the tiles one more time.
And I shall pray.
