MUSICAL BINGO WITH THE NEWLYWEDS
Before they headed home we took out newlyweds out to dinner and much to our delight…
the restaurant where we chose to eat has having a Musical Bingo night.
Once we received our bingos sheets and crayons the four of us were ready to go…
We figured with two of us in our 70’s and two of us in their 20’s
there wasn’t one song we would’t know.
But when we saw the bingo categories…Deborah and I immediately shared a frown…
They were: #1 hits from the 1980’s, the 1990’s, Girl Power and Party Down.
What about the hits of the 60’s and ’70’s Deborah and I wondered
for that answer…we didn’t have to look very far…
Without asking anyone’s age it was obvious…we were the oldest people in the bar.
But we had Trista and Damien at our table…their musical knowledge was the best…
and we had Google listening and searching…to help us with the rest.
As it turned out…Deborah and I didn’t need to know one song…
because Damien and Trista knew them all…
and though we did not win at Bingo…the four of us had a ball.
We ate, we laughed, we sang…sometimes Deborah and I knew the words….
We even found ourselves dancing in our seats…to songs we’ve never heard.
Hanging out with Trista and Damien…we rediscovered this truth…
How we can offer them our wisdom…while they remind us of our youth.
Over the course of one wedding week in the mountains
so many memories are filling up my head…
But there is one memory I hope stays with me forever…
The night we played Musical Bingo…in a bar…with the newlyweds.
