Midsummer Rain
Pitter Patter, tiny splashes engulf—
like hungry little feet filling hallways.
A busy day ahead demands results,
and yet my awe creates a rain delay.
Crescendos beyond open windows play,
as the slow fan above my bed keeps time—
a metronome on a midsummer’s day.
Stalling my awakening so sublime,
thank you summer rains for extending sleep so prime!
