MEMORIES OF WAR

MEMORIES OF WAR In prison we turmoiled packed up cards to fall whilst they sucked genitals like bonbons a quartz on a table gleamed its knowing War torn ghettos with swollen stomachs stretched wide, auras shattered, splintered blood aflow, fainting in vomit march and tread, tread and march trenches our dread homes at morn or on midnight quests We seeped in quagmire teargas in our gut AKs hidden across veld victims and victors in a self-destructive soar seeking story Migrants and mice in swirl sweaty doom dust tears gremlins gyrating, ligaments shredded throbbing hearts filled our chests gasping lungs gaping knees whispers in shadows rape on car seats We wrought bars with bone and marrow nostrils flared as we fell in pots of boiling soup through church windows jumping from canine teeth and batons high crawled in passages with blood-soaked Ts We escaped hyenas in wool coats as they summoned slick oiled brothers squint eyed souls whose essence floated in dank hidden caves Sickly salamander in toiletry bag, pride tied hate in knots Sirius glittered in sadness as they microscoped each dot whilst leaders lied to make magic in foreign lands A soldier saw his time luminous black eyes rolling onto fragment front garden hands outstretched for his last breyani guns loaded & waiting my jellied nerves handed the package and bottled water Sisters in psyche said : Run baby run dance with rainbows pure Escape ! We broke our chains and so can you ! Run for Goddess’ spirit wild free from rampant chaos dirty washbasins of the past from broken rovers in a square watching when Death whispers “Come” and boots have no laces Run baby run onto a plain with Arabian horses tangled hair holding reins spill tattered tortured throat loosen skeletal fingers on your gutted glands freshen scarred face with market place oranges cough your secrets into a far off volcano then drink it’s fire a tetrahedron for your heart your body is but a timelined vehicle ! Far in the distance a knighted serpent waited his time before jumping onto straight backs of warm winds somewhere in Eastern Russia to make new music riddles Oaks on our side we marched along... crystals gave light in drains of mushy dung we thrust away black corners with turquoise skies whilst a mother hid behind her son, saw salmon pink views white vapour dissipating stampedes of ignorance Raphael carrying broken bodies when our minds cracked their coded creeps Our freedom waved clear Atlantis was not so far gone with embryos curled up there waiting to be born onto Earth spirit babies so patient and softly pure We ran with frantic courage strength of ebony holding bloodied fingernails in split molars askew, unbrushed cacti smashed smithereens as we raced through tunnels relishing one glass of juice at day’s sunset lit Lice sucked our blood on the prison floor We drank our water from cell corner toilet pot our hearts exposed like pomegranates spent across our bellies stabs leaking slow muddy tears Still our visions did not fail even with Hades’ blunt digits choking in spasms lips in pink like a silenced canary in rusty cage marbled chiselled by fallen angels whilst dragons slept soundless sleeps We knew our heavens were to descend with lovely mists and fountains when parrots fly in backyards and we gleefully watch elephants birthing or take a cold mountain stream dive Memories fade or are relinquished like rose petals from broken vases making space for fresh oxygen whiffs becoming packaged data matchboxed with lyran mane hairs What are these memories ? framed photos spread on new bedcover for a tiny fire in my pupils undilating ©GhairoDanielsPoetry &Song2002
