for MORRIS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I see you there, leaving me
With your quiet blue
Eyes, so gentle and true
Wilder than the night, with a shadow
Reaching beyond my heart,
To the very edges of my spirit,
To the music in my veins,
The silence in my marrow,
The lingering of grace that sighs,
Forever – just you and I…
I see you there, clever as the moon
Who chooses the night
Over the remnants of beautiful hues
In the afternoon, where roses bloom
I see you there, stirred by hope
Reassured and I know
Wherever I go, there is the wind
Who remembers your gentle,
Your beauty edges in subtle hues
Welcoming me, inviting me to know
You are the story I want to write,
The picture I want to paint,
The reason I can honestly say…
I see you there, a heart
Made mellow by the music
Who swells inside my throat,
Always knowing, always showing
There is a moment,
Between me and you,
When hearts are brought together
Wings are alive, feathers
Roused by the news that we are surely
More than friends, more than lovers
I see you there, once before
I realized that you were the person
I would long for, more than words
Can express, more than thoughts
Can declare, more than the song
Can resonate with its radiant energy,
Overflowing the memories
I see you there, like the amen on a prayer
The final say – the light of day
The mystery and the fading whisper
I see you there, so very rare
These feelings, promised
By the quiet nights, the soft dreams
The believing in you and me –
That moment when I became the truth,
The one who loves – the one who loves you.
I see you there, and I know I’ll always care
Because it is this moment
This day, this promise that we’ve made
Becoming more than words can say,
More than poetry can reveal,
More than music or art or thought…
I see you there and I know the answer
To my life’s dancing,
The wings beneath my heart
The glitter in the stars
I see you there and I struggle to explain
What it means to love – love without pain
Love that has nothing to gain
Love that will forever sustain
Love that is ours because we’re a part of something
Bigger than our minds might have seen,
Bigger than our hearts can reveal,
Bigger than the night’s sky or moonlight
Bigger than the summer or fall,
Bigger than the broken in the dark
I see you there, where I want to be
Because it is with you
That my heart needs – to breath
I see you there and I discover me
I love you, honey and I’ll always believe
You are the heart that was meant for me!
