Loose the Latchstrings of Winter
“The person who follows the crowd
will usually go no further than the crowd.
The person who walks alone is likely to find
himself in places no one has ever seen before.”
Albert Einstein
How wide the gap until the dawn of spring,
till winter’s stage has fulfilled its reign.
There is no honest gain to a latchstring
which tightens the tedious chain -
the boredom of winter's restrain.
Heat turned up, doing sit-ups with my brain,
I stretch imagination's double chins.
Donning warm homespun, throw off winter's bane,
my mental locks engaged with needles and pins.
I walk it out; that’s where inspiration begins.
