Looking Back

If we should all look back to times when we were in our teens, when we believed some things would never alter We were convinced that truth and time and love were not just dreams, but the steadfast rules of life that never falter With our adolescent confidence then certain that we knew the truth would always trick us if we lied Yet time and life’s experience has given us a view of truth when economically applied And what of time, this mystery we know not how to tame, yet try to save with ever faster speed Invariably when in a rush it’s time that gets the blame, we never seem to have quite what we need There are times when the hours drag on and seem to last for years, or perhaps your time you have to bide One day you’ll no doubt contemplate where all your time has gone and realise that time’s not on your side. The thing that really counts in life is love and that’s the one that starts a fearful aching in your heart But falsehoods and bad timing will often lead to spats and the misery of being torn apart Truth and time are part of love that cannot be denied as we roam along this complex path of strife With honesty and timing you will find that love can’t hide, and you will then bring love into your life .
