Look Who Came To Tea
Today we will have guests for tea.
Lots of guests.
Some may call it dinner,
Some may call it supper;
Some will be here because they want to be,
Others who may not;
Some will be here because we want them to be,
Others who we may not.
The only thing that’s for sure
Is we shall all eat.
In pairs they came:
The round couple full of happiness
And the pies of their childhood;
The odd couple full of curious glances
And the reassurance of their childhood;
The lush couple full of wine
And the insecurity of their childhood;
The rich couple full of money
And the loss of their childhood.
Look who came to tea,
We all came to tea!
