Like the Rain
I feel it all coming on like the rain
I wake to a world swathed in gray
My skies dripping with a scarlet hue
Still pushing my weary soul through the day
Falling slowly in front of eyes that know me
A warm breath that turns the skies to blue
An embrace that holds the demons at bay
Becuase they are all scared of you
You tell me "Baby close your eyes.."
You whisper well wishings and promises to ease
I fall asleep enveloped in the familiar comfort
Drifitng into memories and dreams that please
Waking to a world swathed in gray
My dark clouds weren't hanging overhead
And the gray is lighter then before
And I don't want to leave this bed
For I woke to your face, calm like the sea before a storm
I trace the lines that only appear when you smile
I let a kiss escape me to dance upon your lips
And I lay awake next to you, you sleeping all the while
Because it's hard to say goodbye without a hello
And I know these legs will have me walk out your door
Its hard to hope for what you don't know
I'm treading water I've never tread before
And my mind will always wonder
What the next days temperment will be
A storm or ire or utopian resonance
I fall asleep just to wake and see
