Lessons Brought Upon Us
Before birth, we’re each assigned a life path:
A different one for me and you
And as the years bypass us, fulfilling our true
Destinies seem harder and harder to do
It is written that for comfort, to ask the Lord
Guidance in not our will, but his
Then unto us is given the gift of
Understanding for what was and what is
And though, we’re born defiant
With a streak of stubborn very strong
In time, we realize that our ignorant
Independence is where we went wrong
And, that’s when we sit humble
While admitting our mistakes
Asking for forgiveness and
Willing to do whatever it takes
Then too, we discover that
We haven’t done so bad
And for the lessons brought upon us,
Today, we are glad.
