Kuwait
things were different than before
my sudden out burst I'd yet to explain
I noticed small things like
a butterflies cocoon my sense's
were a bit altered as the smell
of a dandelion sent me soaring again
things were a bit different I suppose
my laughter seemed out of style
like an old pair of slacks from the seventies
a quiet calm aroused my suspicious mind
centered around trust issues
things were a bit different than before
I found myself in the middle of a closet
reading old letters from Apo addresses
clutching dog tags field jackets
and twisted boot straps while a celebration
seemed to be carried from the back yard
the sound of great cheer I held on to
a stainless steel tear one I couldn't ignore
that things were a bit different than before
