Its Not the Land We Knew

It’s Not the Land we Knew by Robert (Bob) Moore © 2022 It’s not the land we knew then digger the one we sacrificed for we did not shirk, and analyse, before we went off to war There was a need, we saw it clear what we should do for our country and so we went, without a thought except to do our duty. We did not know so many of us were destined to not return and even if we had have known our duty, we would not spurn We remember those who sacrificed gave all they had to give and we will keep their memory as long as brave souls live. by Bob Moore

Digger or bigger? Nonetheless a heartfelt poem. Thank you for your service, Bob - the least you deserve for dealing with war.

Many of my family served, Kim, a Great Grandfather and Great Uncle died in WW1, and Uncle in Greece +other members died in WW2, my father served in WW2 and in Korea, and an Uncle served in Korea and Malaya in the '50's and my Grandson-in-Law, served in Afghanistan, I was born in WW2, and missed out on serving, although I have great pride in family who did.
