It Was a Good Morning Till

He seems to be new and I so cool Walk over to introduce myself I notice a clue his polished shoes And the badges shiny on his belt It seems my desk was a mess As the man had searched high and low I'm Bob he says with the IRS Your company's assets will be froze In fact lady come with me There are questions for you and news Today was a good day indeed For the audited IRS blues. 2/14/2021

Do all you do, then share the proceeds, that's all they want. Nah, guess they wish to be in charge. Badge on belt almost analogous to the "obey or get a beating"... like the narrative.

Hi Karen, great start right out of the gate. What IRS actually stands for is I'm Really Screwed. They're either coming for your money or your freedom.

He seemed new -- but you didn't have a clue -- until you were singing them blues. Enjoyed reading your first post, Karen. Cheers, Gershon

I love how you take an everyday occurrence (hopefully not every day) and write it as poetry. It's a pleasure to read this. I believe we should write comprehensible poems, and you certainly do that! Wonderful!

Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words! I often think less of my poems because they are about every day things; I appreciate you seeing my poems with value.

It’s good that they are singing the blues instead of you. I enjoyed your first piece on the soup.

You obviously understand what poetry is about and did not over complicate and just let the words flow. Also you knew when your poem was finished. It is the same with any project, I think but technology can make one spend too much time seeking perfection. I sometimes keep adding to poems when I should have stopped. Regards David in NZ

I am still striving to be even a good poet. Your words are kind. I too have gone beyond in some poems when passionate about a subject. But poets are allowed to embellish or at least can be forgiven lol. Thanks for believing in me. Means a lot.

I love this poem, Karen, as a CPA I can relate to the IRS blues. This brought a smile to my face this morning, thanks. John
