Is That Ok
It's ok when nobody sees you
it's ok when nobody knows you
searching as you do
for someone to find you
six billion souls
all living alone
Disconnection
segregation
so many fact-finding
their own
impossible favoritism
The diluted things
the pretty things
the acceptable compensation
But it's ok you don't fit in
peg in the square whole
covered in skin
it's ok everyone knows you have no feelings
you're voice is lost
nobody hears you
six billion souls
all desperately seeking eleven billion meanings
Cut you're split
from the world around you
nobody is there to understand you
you can't connect
inside your head
all the dross and the rubbish
you just can't accept
It's ok they say
the world is hard
the same old story
they themselves have heard
life's not easy
somethings will never change
they say
and so the world never changes
anyway
But that's ok
The blunt chisels will knock off
your sharp edge
and you'll money 'n roll
to the tune
of what everyone else said
and you'll end up in pieces
just like mum and dad
and you'll vaguely remember
rebellion was once
the only thing you had
Will you join the race
live your life
at their own frantic pace
and forgetfully forget
that something was there
something rare
something different
something you felt to be true
something individual
about you
It's ok they say
the world is hard
and it's always the same old story
they themselves have too often heard
somethings will never change
they say
and so they never change
and the world stays the same
to this day
Is that ok
