Inevitabilities of Life
Can you feel the ever fading sun,
how the cold crawls over your skin;
dark strands combine at the edge of vision?
Can you hear their serene whispers -
fragile and tentative fronds of affection -
always beyond reach or comprehension?
For you shall see and know to be absolute,
an inevitable reaping upon this earth:
of love’s joyous symphonies once before
- as forgone is the movement of the wind,
as inevitable is the breaking of the sea -
loss overtakes all that is or ever was to be.
You will crumble and fade a witness
of darkness from the death of stars,
to acrid taste and loathsome sound of pain,
of forgotten and faded notions of self,
before the absence of providence or fate,
ever takes you into the blessed abyss.
