Incomplete

She may say, "I'm fine", He may say, "I'm okay", However, the void inside of them, Increases every day. They endeavour to carry on, Disguising their pain, Although knowing, Life won't be the same again. No parent should experience, The pain they're going through, The loss of their child, Of a love forever true. The emptiness they carry, Deep inside their souls, Nothing to complete the space, That once made them whole. She may say, "I'm fine", He may say, "I'm okay", However, a parent should never outlive their child, My heart is with them every day.

I lost my only child and this poem says it all, including the love I have been shown since that dreadful day. I have found that there is still love in the world, and your words have affirmed that. Thank you.

Hi Casarah, thank you for your kind words and I like you am fortunate enough to not to have experienced this pain, I can sympathise too. I was inspired by a sculpture called "Melancholy". Someone had likened it to the feeling of losing a child. I just went from there. Thank you once again. Best Wishes and Hugs too.

I know the feeling well, Kay. A very sad subject for this well written poem. I love the lines, "nothing to complete the space that once made them whole". The truth is death should bring loved ones closer but reality is it usually tears it apart. Wonderful to read you again:)
