If They Ask

If They Ask, Tell them I tried my best at the time. Though it seemed like I was doing nothing. Tell them it seemed very little, But that was my best at the moment. Tell them I seemed ungrateful, But my heart desired something. Tell them I was broken from the inside, But I served a smile like always. Tell them I never blamed anyone, For I knew I was the problem. Tell them I never lose hope, But my efforts went to waste. Tell them I never run away, Because that was never a choice. Tell them what my language was, ‘I wish I had done this and this’. Tell them the time came, When I couldn't do anything anymore. Tell them I watched my failure, With tears that couldn’t help. Tell them I was not the best, But I tried my best. Tell them I'm still hopeful, Maybe it didn't die but took a break.
