Both Ibn Zaydun (1003-1071) (on whose behalf I speak in this poem), as his mistress were high placed poets in Córdoba, Wallada was a princess, Zaydun her lover. They were shamelessly public in their love, and that did not end well..

Wallada
Wallada, oh my Wallada, come back to me
I write for you my poetry in pain
Once you loved me, my world, you see?
I never sought for you in vain
My lips on yours, our love wrote poetry...
My love, what have you to gain?
It's all I ever want, need, to just be.
With you.
This petty jealousy of some drove us apart
The lines I write to you, scream, cry!
You, my sun and moon, is it so hard
to understand my heart, please why?
Why, I know you're more than smart.
Don't let this be final goodbye.
My farewell poem is on this card,
To you.
I now live in exile away from you in Sevilla,
My heart will always be with you in Córdoba.
